Course Background

Strengthen the financial acumen of business managers will help them to direct organisation actions and allocate financial resources which are aligned with business strategy and priorities, understand the financial effects of your managerial decisions, more competent in dealing with financial data and decisions, and foster financial discipline within the organisation.

This course is designed for non-finance executives or business managers to enhance their knowledge of essential finance and accounting concepts, the language used by accountants, and to understand what financial information can be used to identify and analyze business opportunities, assess financial risks and most importantly, enable them to evaluate ideas from a financial perspective, make better business decisions and communicate effectively with finance department.

Founder of Top Wise Management Limited that provides consulting services and business solutions in financial management, risk management, internal control, process improvement and training, Mr. Anthony Lam has over 30 years of experience in enterprise risk management, corporate governance, auditing, financial management, ERP system implementation and IT control and security.
 
Prior to running his consulting business, Mr. Lam had worked in Big Four Accounting Firm in Hong Kong and held various management positions in global US multinational corporations, HK listed companies and government statutory organization across a wide range of industries. He has conducted many training on corporate governance, risk management and control for various organizations.

  • Familiar with the main components of a typical set of financial statements or annual report. What are the areas / sections that business managers or executives should pay attention to.

  • Learn how to interpret financial statements and analyse business performance. Is the business financially healthy, is the business on track, examples of how to measure profitability, liquidity and efficiency.

F. Costing
  • Know the differences between cost categories and their implications on costing. Understand costing concepts and apply them in making business decisions.
